Contemporary Family Home in Belgrade

This family apartment interior was conceived as a contemporary, warm and clearly organized home, tailored to the occupants’ everyday way of life. The starting point was the limited floor area, which required precise planning of the living zone while preserving a sense of flow, openness and visual balance. The open-plan living area brings together the lounge, dining room and kitchen in a unified space with clearly defined zones that connect naturally without visual barriers. A neutral interior foundation allowed the space to be developed in layers through textures, materials and carefully selected accent elements that give it character without disturbing its calm atmosphere. Particular attention was given to the visual experience of natural materials. In addition to wood, veneered and painted MDF was used alongside contemporary material alternatives that provide durability and ease of maintenance. The kitchen surfaces are finished in ceramic material that recreates the appearance of stone, while the living-room wall features a special finish based on gypsum and mineral compounds, creating a subtle stone-like texture. Built-in elements were custom-made to maximize the available space while preserving a clean aesthetic. The lighting combines ambient, functional and technical solutions, allowing the space to adapt to different scenarios throughout the day. Textile elements, upholstered furniture and rugs improve the acoustics and contribute to an additional sense of comfort. Throughout the project, the objective was to achieve a balance between contemporary architectural expression and the feeling of home. Every interior element has a clearly defined function, while the aesthetic is shaped through proportion, light and a consistent color palette. The result is a visually calm, thoughtfully organized space designed to meet the occupants’ needs over the long term.
